CAPITOL Transportation's Founders

Charlie Darmanin, a native of Malta, migrated to New York after World War II. He worked at Morgan Manhattan but couldn’t take the cold. So he moved south to Jacksonville, Florida. There Dick Suddath gave him a job.

At that time in the early 1950's the military build up was very high in Puerto Rico so Dick Suddath asked Charlie to go to Puerto Rico to oversee the operation, which he did.

"Mr. Charlie", as he is affectionately called by all his employees and colleagues in the industry, has many memories of exciting, challenging jobs which has built Capitol since 1956 from a single truck to the largest most modern fleet of air-ride trucks with the largest household goods warehouse in the Caribbean.

After 40 years "Mr. Charlie" retired to pass on the succession to his son Richard.

Richard Darmanin joined the company in 1979 and climbed the corporate ladder to assume the presidency. Richard throughout his career had held several positions on the Board of Directors and consultant committees of various industry associations.

Richard's ambitions are quite simple: Live a simple life and continue to build and expand on what Charlie has taught him so well: Provide consistent quality service.
